About Candlewood (The Dollhouse)
My dollhouse is the QA 575 Queen Anne Victorian by Dura-Craft of Newburg, Oregon. Pine frame construction with split redwood shingles.
- A dollhouse named Candlewood
I remember the long box I opened for Christmas (25 lbs!) and my mom diligently working to assemble the 1/8 inch plywood pre-cut pieces into what, with mixed patience and eagerness, magically turned into a little girl’s dream house.
I learned from a miniatures retailer that dollhouse manufacturer Dura-Craft is no more.
I’ve found one instance online so far of someone renovating a Dura-craft Queen Anne. There are probably others. I’d love to meet them.

Good luck with your restoraton! I need to find the dollhouse Chanel and I had when we were kids, but it’s not nearly as nice as yours!
Thanks Charisse – I hope logging my progress motivates me to make progress ;o) Chanel mentioned your dollhouse… cute!
my mother would have loved this. She never got me interested, but my sister did.
your place is lovely – you’d be a great mini house decorator, Carol
Good Luck! I always wanted a dollhouse — don’t know if I could make or restore one though!!
I know you could, Dina, you’re totally talented!

Merci beaucoup Cousin! Gros bisous
I was just as excited as you were when we opened the box way back then… and my eyes popped open when i saw so many parts to put together! LOL
It was a dream of mine to do that with my little girl, and i am very happy that it brought you so much joy. Can’t wait to see the NEW Candlewood when you are done with it.
I love you,
Maman
